About Dana Stein & Philosophy
Over the nearly 30 years she has spent as an educator and tutor
Dana's expertise and qualifications are known around the area, as she has built a robust tutoring business from only referrals. She works on all subjects and with students of all abilities, including gifted children, those with ADHD, and students with Individual Education Plans (IEP). She is certified in Gifted Education and focused her post graduate work on that subject and Differentiation, which is the process of adjusting the curriculum so that each student succeeds and reaches their potential. Dana's team of tutors is made up of experienced teachers who she personally selected and trained in her philosophy.
Dana's approach is one that puts the student's needs and learning style first. Each tutoring plan is customized, flexible and created with input from the family. She works closely with parents and teachers, and stresses the importance of building confidence, self esteem and productive study habits. Whether it's group sessions, her popular Summer Boot Camps, or one on one work, Dana develops a relationship with each student so the child is ready and willing and available to learn. Her philosophy stays true to the curriculum and provides support to ensure success.
She has seen both her passion and profession expand. Her strong commitment to helping children learn efficiently and effectively has impacted hundreds of students. It's not unusual for these students—some well out of college by now—to reach out and let Dana know that her class marked a major turning point in their educational journey.
Dana holds a degree in education from the University of Iowa and a Masters of Education from the University of Illinois. Her professional background spans over two decades and includes positions as an elementary school teacher in Deerfield District 109; a gifted education teacher; an instructional & differentiation coach; and a private tutor. Dana currently serves as the Advanced Learning Specialist in Deerfield District 109.
Dana resides in Lincolnshire with her husband and three children.
